  • Welder / Fabricator

Machine: N/A | Location: Caldicot

Chepstow Plant International are seeking to employ an experienced welder to work on the company’s ever-growing contracting fleet at its head office in Caldicot, Monmouthshire. This job role will involve the undertaking of repairs and replacements on various brands of machinery. The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of two years’ experience in welding, fabricating panels and refurbing ancillaries for heavy plant machines and attachments.

Job Roles & Duties:

- To undertake the repair of various brands such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo and Bell (hydraulic excavators, articulated haulers, wheeled loaders, bulldozers.) to a very high standard.
- Repair, Replace, manufacture panels, buckets, and various other welding duties.
- When required work to targeted timelines.
- To assist and coach colleagues with technical support where necessary.
- Accurate completion of systems/paperwork.
- Complete daily timesheets and job cards in ‘real time’ providing comprehensive details of the work undertaken.
- To carry out all work in line with quotations and time guides, highlighting to management where additional work may be require.
- To maintain the compliance and safe use of all tools supplied.

Qualification Requirements:

- A formal welding / fabrication qualification (NVQ Level 3 / city and guilds or equivalent) is essential.
- Coding qualifications would be beneficial but not essential as training may be given.


- 40-hour week, working 7.00am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, with a half an hour break
- Voluntary overtime is usually available Monday to Friday and some weekends. Overtime is paid at time and a half or double time


- 20 days plus statutory bank holidays with further days accrued based on seniority and longevity.


- Death in Service benefit which would be equivalent to 2 x their annual basic salary
- Pension (5% employee, 3% employer)
