  • Workshop Engineer

Machine: N/A | Location: Caldicot



Chepstow Plant International are seeking to employ an experienced heavy plant fitter to join the company's growing workshop team at its head offices in Caldicot. The ideal candiate would have experience and/or knowledge of the quarrying industry with a formal engineering qualification in plant maintenance, agricultural machinery or HGV mechanics. The job will report directly into our Workshop Manager and Foreman.

The main job roles include:

- To service and repair various construction and quarrying equipment or miscellaneous equipment.
- To carry out inspection and local preparation, including: the fitting of buckets, reversing cameras and radars etc.
- To identify mechanical problems, using technical knowledge.
- To order parts for your work as necessary and to return parts in a clean condition and at the time of job completion.
- Accurate completion of systems/paperwork (including but not limited to oil sample reports).
- To carry out all work in line with quotations and time guides, highlighting to management where additional work may be required.
- To ensure company tool defects are reported, use is in line with current test periods and in line with instructions/training.
- To maintain a sufficient toolkit to enable you to carry out the job effectively.
- To assist and coach colleagues with technical support where necessary.
- To work in accordance with Chepstow Plant International Ltd standards of health and safety, quality and environmental care.
- To have the flexibility to work am/pm shift work which comes with a shift allowance.

Job Skill requirements include:

- Relevant experience or qualification in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction/quarrying plant.
- Proven technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics and electrical systems.
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Work with a cost-conscious mindset.
- High standards and attention to detail.
